SIOUX NATION AT STANDING ROCK RESERVATION . . . HERE WE COME!
Our group of missionaries has been chosen and an ambitious schedule of meetings, fundraising, and evangelizing has been finalized as we prepare for our 2012 Parish Mission Trip (April 13-20) to the Lakota Ministries of South Dakota where we will be providing service to the communities of native Americans that reside on the Reservation at Standing Rock. At the invitation of Bishop Robert Gruss of the Rapid City diocese our missionaries will be evangelizing the youth of that area through a series of nightly retreats and providing physical service to various renovation projects during the daylight hours. As with all our mission endeavors, our parish community’s prayers are essential to the success of this unique mission trip!

Annual Christmas in the City Service Project Set for December 10
Each year during the Advent season a hardy troupe of volunteer parishioners from St. Thomas More have headed into the inner-city to perform various service projects at a number of different sites. This year we will be headed to St. Patrick’s Church on Smith Street in Providence on Saturday, December 10. The pastor there, our good friend Fr. Ruggieri, has promised that he will have plenty for us to do! We are looking for adults and children of at least high school age to participate in this worthwhile project as we join with inner-city parishioners who are rich in faith but financially challenged. We will depart from St. Thomas More Church at 8:15am, and return no later than 3:30pm. If you can help out, please contact the Parish Office (789-7682) and leave your name and a count of the number of people who will be serving with you. THANKS!
Irish Night A Sold-Out Success!
Over 140 parishioners gathered at the Village Inn for a night of green merriment which included great food, song, entertainment, and a few surprises! A Boston-based band, The Irish Rogues, provided the wonderful music for the event, and they were accompanied by some talented Irish dancers from the parish who charmed the overflow crowd. A mystery guest, just in from Ireland, provided some unexpected entertainment with her dancing and story-telling! The Amalfi catering group provided the wonderful buffet, which included corned beef and cabbage. It was a fun night for all!
LAST CHANCE TO COMPLETE PARISH SURVEY!
We have finished tabulating and reviewing the results of the parish survey. Almost 300 surveys were returned! The results are very helpful as we assess additional ways in which we can meet our parish needs. We will be providing a detailed recap of the findings as part of our upcoming Financial Report
We heard mostly from parishioners who are older in age. The percentage of returns from parishioners who are age 55 and younger (especially those in their 40’s, 30’s, and 20’s) does not represent our parish population. We need to hear from more of you! We have included an on-line version of the survey here, and it will be available for the next couple of weeks. If you haven’t already completed a survey, please click on this link and share your views. It is important to us that you be heard.
