Marimba Maestro To Perform At Fr. Young’s Arrivederci! Reception On September 26th

“Mesmerizing . . . uplifting . . . playful . . . soulful . . .” are all words that might be used to describe Fr. Adam Young, whose ministry as a priest in our parish draws to a close on October 1st.  Those same words describe the music produced by the marimba, a percussion-style musical instrument that defies definition as it produces its rich, unique sound.  Constructed of an elaborate system of rosewood bars, the music is produced through a system of mallets and resonators, and local Jamestown native Aaron Cote is one of its few practitioners in the country.

As we say good-bye and thank-you to Fr. Young for his ministry during these summer months here at St. Thomas More with a reception in Msgr. Halloran Hall following the 11:00am Mass on September 26th, we are happy to include a performance by Mr. Cote on his marimba in the festivities.

So stop by for a cup of coffee and a pastry, listen to some interesting music, and most importantly thank Fr. Young for sharing his gifts with us these last few months.  Arrivederci, Fr. Young!  May God continue to bless you in your studies in Italy.
